Most people are very familiar with the Kate Spade clothing brand. However, the brand has now opted to expand beyond their typical reach.
The $1.14 billion apparel and accessories company has signed new deals in the women’s, kids and home categories, along with an arrangement with Magnolia Bakery.
This is an interesting move given that the brand recorded a reported loss of $53.6 million loss in the first quarter of 2015 due to continuing operations. Ironically, sales during that time grew to $255.3 million, which is the equivalency of 14.2%. Also, there were two divisions of Kate Spade that closed. Those sections were Kate Spade Saturdays and Jack Spade retail yet.
However, Kate Spade will be expounding on their handbag line, creating a sleepwear line, a fitness line, and much more. Deborah Lloyd, president and chief creative officer of Kate Spade New York, said “the Kate Spade New York girl has a strong appetite for a novelty piece and a conversation starter.”
Watch out, looks like Kate Spade is on a mission to dominant in more than the fashion world these days.
