Jennifer Lawrence, one never shy to speak her mind, has now taken on the issue of body shaming. Well, kind of.
During a recent interview at ComicCon the actress was sure to express her excitement over the thought of potential food being in the backstage area. Lawrence has spoke very openly in the past in regards to weight and perceived issues with the movie industry in its take on images portrayed on the big screen.
“I had a conversation with somebody about the struggles with weight in the industry — I know that’s something I talk nonstop about,” Lawrence said. “And they were saying, ‘All of the main movie stars aren’t very underweight.’ I said, ‘Yeah, because once you get to a certain place [in your career], people will hire you. They just want you to be in the movie, so they don’t care.’ It’s more about the struggle for the actors and actresses who haven’t made it to a certain place.”
Lawrence has stated on several occasions that she is shedding light on the issues with body image in the movie industry not for herself, but instead for those who are trying to break industry. Kudos to Jennifer for not forgetting her struggles while trying to break into the industry and being vocal enough to speak up.
