The rumor mills in the fashion world are turning as many are stating that Alexander Wang will not be returning to Balenciaga.
Wang, who took over Nicholas Ghesquière at Balenciaga in 2012, has made a name for himself at the fashion by resurrecting some of the signature styles of the past. Many look at Wang’s time with Balaciaga as a tenure is said to have bought a sense of vitality and freshness to the fashion house.
Despite the brand revealing that they have indeed grown and profited under Wang’s vision, Kering (the parent company), has reportedly decided not to renew the American designer’s contract and supposedly are looking for someone in-house to lead the charge. (Inspired by the recent quiet success of Alessandro Michele at Gucci perhaps?)
Fortunately, Wang has a lot to focus on this Fall with his main line’s impending 10-year anniversary extravaganza.
